Though their indie-pop style can range from singer-songwriter to surf rock, Seattle-based Vanilla Abstract has been described as " a bastard child of the Fiona Apple/Tori Amos/Ani DeFranco era." Accompanying herself with piano or acoustic guitar, Erika Gersten fronts with a sultry but commanding voice and penetrating lyrics. She's joined by bassist/recording engineer Mitch Midkiff (Weep Wave, Hi Wasted, Oh My Eyes) and drummer Jordan Otto (Oh My Eyes, Beatrix Sky, Speak Easy.) Their tracks also feature members of Car Seat Headrest, Thunderpussy, and Hi Crime.
